Autumn Days - is an unframed Limited Edition Giclee Art Print by contemporary Aboriginal artist, Lou Martin
'Autumn Days' is about a change of seasons, although not in the meteorological sense. Rather, it is a contemporary representation of a long-awaited change in race-relations in Australia.
The inspiration for this painting is unity. At the heart of the painting is a floral shape. This is a contemporary take of a traditional symbol for people sitting together. In traditional Aboriginal art, a U-shape is indicative of a person. Placing people in close formation seated together was a deliberate means to represent the people of this nation coming together to create something beautiful. The mountains surrounding the edges are symbolic of the people coming together from all corners of the country; regardless of ethnicity, origins or belief systems, we are once race - the Human race.
The palette involves a play on her name, utilising colours widely associated with leaves in Autumn, indicative that change is coming.
